Before I delve into my review of The Haunted Forest, I have to give them a VERY honorable mention.
They managed to achieve in one swift motion and a mere manor of seconds the one thing I have been in search of my whole life. For the first time ever in a haunt, I was scared! Genuinely scared! So much so that it made me scream and duck at the same time! So, congratulations go out to them for helping me achieve my goal!! Great job!
As I walked down the trail in the dark, just being outside in the dark was creepy. Add to that the fact that the wind was blowing and making the leaves rustle all around me and it was looking like a great recipe for some fun.
The trails were uneven and footing was dicey at times as I walked through the scenes. The cemetery was effective and the gravedigger there was unnerving. Moving along I encountered monsters that were hiding near bushes, Jason at the top of the hill moving down after our group was a nice touch and the way he tracked us through the woods was very good.
While there were a few too many dead spots for my taste, the props and actors that were there did a good job of getting the startles and scares out of our group. The troll on the bridge had an evil, hissing little voice that nightmares are made of.
My favorite by far would of course be the creature that got the scream out of me. I cannot describe in great detail what it was as it moved on us so fast it was hard to get a good look. It appeared to be some type of ghost on a zip line overhead. All I know is that it moved fast, and was in my face before I could comprehend it and it scared me half to death!
This is a good outdoor haunt that, with time, could become a fantastic attraction. I feel that with development, more actors, props and inventive scares like the zip line, this one could climb the ranks quickly.
