This is a pretty cool haunt with a unique theme. I like that the characters are really unusual compared to your typical Zombie, ghost, Axe Murder and Horror Flick characters you see in most haunts. There are no Hillbillies here either. Just some strange (cannibalistic?) tribe chasing you through ruins and jungles.

I also really like the utilization of unexpected and innovative scares. This haunt has a lot of moving parts that catch you off guard. Overall the sets and detail of the scenes are really good and there were a couple rooms (one with some prisoners and a see through floor, as well as the huge caged tunnels) that really creeped me out.

Unfortunately the timing was all sorts of off when we went through. Scares were being reset as we walked into rooms, groups were bunching up everywhere and the experience was just not up to it’s usual high standard.

Primitive Fear has changed up their layout, added some fun new elements and a cool VIP tent. But due to their popularity it seemed that too many groups were going through too quickly and no matter what the actors did they couldn’t control the influx of people.

With a jungle/tribal feeling theme, Primitive Fear has dished up some new sights for the season. A new, improved front façade is the first thing that I noticed when I arrived and it looks terrific! Also new this year is a VIP tent that allows holders of VIP tickets to wait to go in sheltered from the elements while watching a movie and enjoying a soda, on the house. The tent is available to customers of this haunt and its sister haunt at the same location. The tent is a great addition, complete with comfortable furniture and décor that gives it a swanky, speak easy feel.
Once headed into the haunt the very beginning looked a bit in a state of disarray and for a moment I thought our group may have headed in the wrong way. It looked like we were behind the scenes. We realized that we were not and moved forward through the doors into the first room that was filled with fog. We were met in there by actors who snuck up on us and startled us to get us moving in the right direction.
After that, the jungle theme took hold and I moved from room to room encountering tribal warriors wearing interesting headdresses and costumes. While there were a couple of them that could use improvement, overall the costumes were very good and detailed.
The haunt did stray from theme a time or two with scenes that certainly would not be found in a jungle, but the vast majority of the haunt stuck to theme quite well.
Jungle sets were thick and lush with plenty of places for actors to hide and then sneak out. Moving walls, logs falling, dropping ceilings and tiki torch lighting gave authenticity to the scenes.
While not overly frightening, Primitive Fear has plenty of eye candy for even the most discerning haunt enthusiast.
