Length: 9Decimation is Colorado’s mini House of Shock. This haunt has the best crew of actors that I have personally seen in the entire state, they are totally demented! This is my personal favorite Haunt that I got the chance to visit in the 2010 season and I highly recommend you see it if you love actor intensity and your limits being tested.
First, I really enjoyed how totally insane and into character that every single actor was. It was as if the actors totally believed that what they were doing was real, like they were in their own reality of character until the make-up came off. I give them huge kudos.
Next I was totally intrigued by all of the unique make-up used throughout this mad house. All of the masks here are unique to the haunt and can’t be seen anywhere else. I really was surprised to see something different and bizarre. Usually masks and make-up are of the normal monsters and zombies but not here, they were totally different and I am really not sure what to classify them as, you will have to see for yourself but, totally disgusting and disturbing.
Also, this attraction does an amazing job pushing limits that are usually not tested in this industry, which needs to become more common. People get bored with the same old normal stuff and Decimation knocked that boredom out of the park.
My only complaint is that there was not any more to this haunt; I want more and I really hope the staff adds to what they are doing in the future. All in all, Decimation has come in from left field and totally wrecked this season in an amazing way, if you miss this attraction this year, you will be sorry.

Length: 6Decimation is a first year haunt located across County Line road from Park Meadows mall. It is easy to get to the cluster of shops that contain Decimation but the haunt itself is tucked in the back around the corner from Wahoo’s and is not overly visible around the other buildings. Give it a few minutes and you’ll be able to find the haunt without any problems.
While buying a ticket, an actor or two patrol the parking lot and line area to set the mood. I hope you like creepy vampire clowns and people who appear to have their faces melting right off of their skull, that’s what you’ll get here.
Through the front door you are greeted with the front of which appears to be the front of an ill maintained cabin out on the bayou which you must enter to continue, no matter what reservations you have about doing so. Inside seems like nothing more than a simple slightly cluttered home. Wait, is that blood splattered all over the place? About that time, you are greeted by the inhabitant in a very energetic and intimidating way. After that, you get to visit grandpa’s kitchen where you can sample some of his Mayonnaise cookies, Yum. Beyond these two little scenes the theme expands to impressive torture scenes, visits with the devil, people buried in walls, a lot of cool concepts. There are a few issues with the sets, sometimes the only separation between the backstage and the set is with black fabric. The sets on a whole give a low budget feel but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
The actors in my opinion are the very brightest part of this haunt. Every one of the denizens has a personality. From the raging psychopath throwing furniture while cursing, to the smaller guy holding a tailor’s tape measure very excited about finding your dimensions so he can add to his collection of parts. Every actor had suitable behavior and didn’t simply jump out and say boo. The creepiness of the actors really ramps up the scare factor of this haunt.
The length of Decimation is probably a tad below average but is still decent. Overall I’m very impressed with this first year effort. I can tell that a lot of planning went into the haunt and the owners knew exactly what sorts of things they wanted to bring to the table.

Length: 8If I had to sum this haunt up in one word, WOW would come to mind immediately. This was a haunt that is filled with some of the most intense acting I have ever seen! This is one very believable group!
The setting is a very run down house filled with some very disgruntled occupants and they have no problem venting their anger and destructiveness in your direction.
Upon entering the living room our group was ambushed by a very bloody, very angry man who clearly did not want us in his house. I was pleased that I didn’t hear the typical, “Get out” line that is prevalent in so many haunts. This actor made sure there was no question in our minds that we were not welcome. He effectively used every prop in the room to make his point!
Moving through the rooms in the house it was evident that some very grisly, gory murders had taken place throughout. If you do not like a lot of gore, or are squeamish, this is not the haunt for you. I didn’t see many areas that were without blood on them and the blood and gore was done very well. This was not bloody handprints or basic smears. The blood here was splattered so well that I could easily visualize how the murders had happened. Time was spent making sure that the splatters were as realistic as possible and that was a huge plus for me. It also looked like fresh, wet blood in spite of the fact that it was completely dry. I had to check it looked so real.
The girl having her entrails twisted around a dowel was a nice touch and even though the scene was fairly well lit, the effects looked very good.
The lunatic in the dungeon that is holding his head and bouncing off the walls was outstanding. I believed heart and soul that he was beyond completely deranged and would cause serious harm to me and my group if we stayed in there with him too long.
The winged creature was amazing, both in costuming and voice and really helped seal the deal. Every actor went above the norm seen in haunts and cranked the intensity up to unheard of levels. They were in my face, letting their long hair brush across my face, breathing down my neck and all but throwing me around in the room with the props. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that just because you have left a scene that the actor stayed behind. These actors have a way of staying with you long after you have left.
There is room for improvements in set design to bring the authenticity level up, but in all honesty, this group of actors could be in an empty room, without props and scare even the toughest haunt goers. I felt as though I had been through some extreme shock therapy after leaving here. House of Shock isn’t the only one pushing boundaries, this is one edgy, raw, truly intense experience that has to be seen to be believed. I wish it had been longer, I really didn’t want it to end!
This is not for younger kids; take them to a harvest festival.

Length: 6This is not your typical haunted house. The designers obviously believe in being more realistic, and they take extra measures to do so. I go inside of a room and see blood all over. I’m not yet done checking out the room when a character goes screaming mad and throws chairs and wood across the room. That puts me in shock for a couple seconds. My mouth drops and my eyes are huge. I quickly get out of there and go to the next room. It looks like it is the kitchen. It is hard to see, with very little light, but I see an older man in a wheelchair offering mayonnaise cookies. His face is melting, and he has very little hair. He jumps out of his chair and gets in my face. “What is going on? These people are mental,” I’m thinking. I keep going and find a bedroom with a girl on the bed looking scared. The wardrobe opens, and a melting-face clown comes out. The girl screams and so do I. Have I said how much I hate clowns? This one is frightening.
My favorite room is the one with a man who looks like he is a mechanic, with oil on his face and wearing a jumpsuit. The room is scary; it has pictures of dead horses on the wall, and tables with dead bodies and tools around it. Mechanic guy comes over and starts measuring our arms and legs. As he is doing this, he gets excited. At this point, I’m thinking this guy is really authentic and not just playing his character. He is one messed-up person. I try to leave the room, and he follows me with a cutting machine—not to mention a big smile on his face. He is mental!
Another creepy guy is the devil. Easily more than six feet tall, this character is muscular. He waits for me quietly and then speaks in a low, intense voice. The best devil voice ever! Seconds later his wings are spread, and that is enough for me to want to leave that room as soon as possible. The man with the gas mask and the guy with the baseball bat also give me goose bumps. They are awesome.
I like this haunt because it feels refreshing and they use different scare tactics. However, I do feel there is more room to grow and improve. Some spots were dead and could use more props. All the actors are amazing though. I could tell they took their characters seriously and were eager to scare me.

Length: 8Decimation is the Colorado haunt that will give you nightmares. The energy and actors are over the top, unlike any of the other haunts in the area. As you walk though you don’t see any of the haunted house clichés. The only 2 strobe lights were at the entrance, fog was a thing of the past, and I’m guessing the actors destroyed all the animatronics. The sets could use some work but so could all the first year haunts.
As stated above, actors were unlike any other haunt in Colorado. Cussing and throwing people into a closet is only a minor glimpse into this haunt. Each actor had a different dialogue of either how they were going to kill you or how they killed other people which seriously made me keep reminding myself I was in an attraction and they couldn’t touch me which is something I’ve never had to do before.
Overall, amazing first year haunt. Can’t wait to see what they have in store for next year!

Length: 9There needs to be a new word in the English language to describe how demented these people are! The first question I asked myself after going through this haunt is where did they find so many deranged lunatics?!? It’s like the things these actors were doing aren’t learned habits or traits, but this kind of personality is just naturally them, and it is intensely morbid. At least that’s how you feel when walking through this haunt. They are so unbelievably intense, you almost forget you are in a haunted house altogether. The actor/patron relationship crosses all sorts of boundaries, and you truly become part of this attraction, you feed this haunt, and help bring it to life! This haunt as a whole is unlike anything else out on the commercial market right now, so if you’re just looking for a fun haunt, this isn’t it unless you’re freaky too
They take the idea of a “Haunted House” to a whole new level.
There wasn’t really any animatronics in this haunt, and the majority of the props and set look handmade. The blood in this haunt looks ridiculously real that I had to do a double take a few times. The masks the actors wore were pretty grotesque, but so awesome at the same time! The lighting and sound effects were really excellent throughout. Really, the only minor details I would change would be the ceiling…it was too open, and a few of the entryways with the black curtains hanging weren’t clear if that’s the way we were supposed to walk through or not. Also, it would go a long way if they had tied the sense of smell to some of the rooms in the haunt as well. And as far as length, I just wish it was a tad longer.
Overall, I was floored after this haunt. I don’t recommend it for anyone under the age of like 15 or so. It is a very graphic haunt, and who knows, there might really be a serial killer running around in there for all we know
Nice job Decimation! You brought it!
